A Night of Christmas Joy at the FHF Shelter

The holiday air crept into Huế as Santa Claus appeared on cafe window decorations and evergreen trees welcomed everyone at each shop entrance. Blue, red, yellow, green lights twinkled at our shelter for weeks as we eagerly anticipated Christmas season.

Christmas Eve, volunteers (Du Ca Music Club, Hue Youth Volunteer Club, The Wind Instruments Club) from all over the city, gathered to help us celebrate a wonderful Christmas season with live music, dancing, storytelling, presents, and joy. It’s during these holiday times that we remember the generous people, both local and globally, who have affected our lives in so many ways. In Christmas fashion, the night kicked off when one of ours kids, Tài, recounted the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer for all to hear! After a festive night of music, we gave each other presents: hand-knit scarves from our friends in Saigon! We finally ended the night with all of the kids filling a balloon with their wishes for the new year and we sent the balloon into the night sky.

We at the FHF family hope you had a wonderful holiday season and best wishes for the new year!
