Mẹ Senior Program

Elders are the main focus of Friends of Hue Foundation. The Mẹ Senior Program visits elders in their homes, gives gifts, and ensures their basic needs are met. Most importantly, the program gives time and love.

This program instills compassion and kindness in the children at our shelter while serving the elderly members of our community. FHF has donated wheelchairs, walkers, and canes to those in need, and extends monetary assistance for financial needs.

The Story of Bà Hà Thị Đệ

Bà Hà Thị Đệ, 86 years old, begs in the streets to care for her two sons — one mentally ill and one a cancer patient. When her son passed away, FHF arranged the funeral, raised funds, and built a small house for the family.

Stories like Bà Đệ’s remind us why this program exists — to ensure that no elder in our community faces hardship alone.

The Story of Bà Nguyễn Thị Hạnh

Bà Nguyễn Thị Hạnh, 90 years old, was unable to work and had no family. She lived off alms from neighbors. FHF children visit her weekly to clean her house, wash her laundry, buy food, bathe her, and keep her company.

Through these visits, our shelter children learn the value of caring for others while providing essential support to those who need it most.

Building Toilets for the Elderly

In 2020, FHF launched the “Building toilets for elderly people” program, recognizing that many elderly community members lacked access to basic sanitation facilities. This initiative improves the dignity and quality of life for seniors in the Hue region.
