Emergency Interim Housing (EIH)
Provides temporary ‘tiny homes’ for the City’s most vulnerable houseless people as an emergency COVID-19 response. Units for single adults and/or couples have individualized climate control, a bathroom with a shower as well as shared amenities such as laundry facilities, kitchen/pantry/dining hall, computer lab, dog run, container gardens, on-site support and more.

**COVID-19 EMERGENCY HOUSING
During the coronavirus pandemic, the City of San José is using some BHC sleeping units to house medically vulnerable unhoused residents who are at risk of serious illness or death should they contract COVID-19.

Rapid Re-housing program helps individuals and families avoid homelessness and helps those experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-housed and stabilized using the Housing First approach. Rapid Re-housing funds can provide for a variety of assistance, including: short-term or medium-term rental assistance, housing relocation and stabilization services including: mediation, credit counseling, security or utility deposits, utility payments, moving cost assistance, and case management.

Homelessness Response
MCKINNEY-VENTO EDUCATIONAL SERVICES
Children and youth who live in hotels/motels, cars/RVs, shared housing, or shelter/transitional housing are eligible to receive academic support through the McKinney-Vento educational service program.

SAFE PARKING
The City of San José provides opportunities for homeless families and individuals living in cars and RVs to park in safe places overnight. More than 1,000 people sleep in vehicles on any given night in San José.

MOBILE HYGIENE PROGRAM – The City funds a Dignity on Wheels Program. It provides mobile showers and laundry service.

MEAL SERVICE PROGRAM – Opening Doors 2020 operates a City-funded lunch program in downtown San José for hungry individuals.

COVID-19 ASSISTANCE FOR HOMELESS COMMUNITY – Emergency Interim Housing in Council District 6 – In response to the COVID-19 emergency and the City’s shelter crisis declaration, the City of San José is developing three emergency interim housing communities to help protect unhoused people from the disease, slow the spread of COVID-19, and expand the City’s interim housing capacity after the emergency recedes.

Homelessness Prevention System The City of San José participates in a countywide Homelessness Prevention System that is designed to help individuals and families at risk of homelessness remain housed.

ENCAMPMENT RESPONSE AND ABATEMENT INFORMATION Outreach teams are dispatched to encampment sites after concerns have been reported or before an abatement. The goal is to provide assistance to homeless individuals who are looking for support services. Outreach teams can help homeless residents find emergency shelter, showers, laundry service, meals, medical services, case management, employment training and more.

HOUSING NAVIGATION
PATH’s housing navigation services assist individuals, families, and Veterans to find and secure a permanent home.

RAPID RE-HOUSING
PATH rapid rehousing programs assist individuals, families, and Veterans with finding permanent housing by providing short term rental assistance, supportive services, and case management.

LifeMoves | Georgia Travis House provides interim shelter and supportive services to 12 families and 15 single women experiencing homelessness in San Jose.

Housing Assistance This project aims to go further by bringing those greatly affected with community members and community advocates in order to solve the larger problem of lack of affordable housing in the Silicon Valley!

LifeMoves | Julian Street Inn provides emergency and transitional housing for adults working to overcome homelessness and serious mental illness.

San Jose Catholic Worker, provide safe and reliable housing home to women with/without children experiencing homelessness. Guests can live until they are able to transition into permanent housing.

Montgomery Street Inn (MSI) provides emergency and transitional housing for up to 90 single adult men per night with case management, Veteran’s services, medical respite care, and other support services.

The Shelter Next Door – A 24/7 emergency shelter that provides safe housing and crisis counseling for women and their children. it provide safe accommodations for approximately 19 people per night, women and their children (boys and girls up to age 18, and even into adulthood when accompanying their mothers).

EMERGENCY HOUSING AND OTHER SAFETY-NET SERVICES – temporary housing and support to single- and two-parent families who are experiencing homelessness.

1. LifeMoves Mountain View is a welcoming, dignified, and safe interim housing community that offers a private unit for each household – whether a family, a couple, a single adult experiencing homelessness – while providing intensive case management and support services designed to return people to stability.

2. Family Services
Homelessness is especially traumatic for children. LifeMoves provides holistic support for families in crisis through family shelters, childcare, education programs, and therapeutic services.

3. Single Adult Services
LifeMoves provides emergency interim shelter, food, clothing, and intensive case management to rapidly return adult clients to stable housing and address the underlying factors contributing to homelessness.

Transitional Housing Placement Program (THPP)

S.T.A.R. Programs includes a Transitional Housing Placement Program (T.H.P.P.) for ages 16-17 aimed at helping youth develop the independent living skills necessary once they emancipate from the dependency or juvenile justice system.

Transitional Housing Placement (THP-NMD)

S.T.A.R. Programs includes a Transitional Housing Placement Plus Foster Care (THP-NMD) for ages 18-21 aimed at helping young adults develop the independent living skills necessary once they exit the dependency or juvenile justice system.

Cold Weather Shelter Program (CWSP) In partnership with the City of San Jose, we are the service provider for two Overnight Warming Locations (OWLs) that operate throughout Winter that offers emergency assistance to those who do not have shelter placement. (open from December to April each year)

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Funeral Assistance: FEMA is providing financial assistance for COVID-19-related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020.
